To ensure I can provide personalized, high-quality care focused entirely on you and your goals, and not the needs of insurance companies, I do not accept insurance or EAPS. I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

The amount reimbursed will depend on the specific terms of your insurance plan’s out-of-network provider coverage. In most cases, if you have a PPO insurance plan, you will get at least ~50% reimbursement after your annual out of network deductible is met.

I’m partnered with Mentaya, an app where you can easily check your out-of-network benefits by entering your insurance information—completely free of charge. Please note to confirm with your insurance policy about your out-of-network policy at the end.

You may consider financing therapy through your Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) as well.

Why do I not accept insurance ?

Like many experienced Clinical Psychologists with clinical specializations and advanced training, I do not accept insurance. The truth is that insurance panels significantly underpay in-network therapists as compared to market rate, in return for a greater pool of potential client referrals.

However this often leads significant burnout for in-network therapist ( i.e., churning of many clients throughout the workday to make ends meet), which results in minimally personalized treatment specific to the history and cultural factors affecting the psychology of who you are, and why you do the behaviors you do (consciously and unconsciously).

In addition there are significant paperwork hurdles required for therapists to work with insurance panels, thus leading to less time solely focused on your therapy. These are the reasons why you see many of the more experienced therapists in private practice not accept insurance.
